Shielding Knitted Gaskets

Wire mesh gaskets are a very versatile and popular style of shielding, they have a great variety of uses and there are several types to choose from depending on your shielding, or environment needs. The list below highlights the 4 most common variations.

Knitted gaskets can be made from a variety of metal wires, including Monel, Tin plated-copper clad-steel or Aluminium. To determine the correct material for your application use the galvanic chart, and then the BACK arrow on your browser to return to this page.

SHIELDING - ES
Single layer knitted wire mesh over soft sponge core. Adhesive backed for ease of mounting.

110dB at 100MHz

Low compression resistance

Range of wire types

Standard and custom sizes

SHIELDING - MS
Knitted all-wire mesh gasket strips for use on enclosures and cabinets. All mesh gaskets give a very high performance level, and can be used for relatively high current grounding if necessary.

124dB at 10MHz

Range of wire types

Standard and custom profiles

High temperature operation

SHIELDING - ME
Knitted wire mesh over elastomer tube or sponge core for use on enclosure doors and cabinets. These gaskets utilise the soft compressive nature of silicone tubes and sponges to provide a soft gasket with higher performance than the ES.

118dB at 10MHz

Moderate compression resistance

Range of wire types

Standard and custom profiles

SHIELDING - MG
Combination gasket. Knitted shield bonded onto elastomer carrier. These offer the same level of shielding as MS or ME, but have an added IP65 environmental seal attached. They can use a Neoprene or silicone sponge carrier for ease of use, and property requirements.

118dB at 10MHz

Various wires and elastomers available

Environmental protection up to IP65

Self adhesive option

Standard and custom profiles
